Eight GLP JDC2 IP, ten JDC Burst 1 and a single MAD MAXX shaped Stage B at the third Moorea Festival, with Loïc Esparraga of MIND responsible for lighting design, programming and operation
“The JDC Burst 1 stood out for its output and versatility, while the MAD MAXX created spectacular sweeps across the sky and gave the shows a strong visual identity,” says Yohan Ory of MID – Musique Industrie Développement, GLP’s distributor in France.
Held from 5 to 7 June 2026 in the grounds of Château de Grillemont in La Chapelle-Blanche-Saint-Martin, the festival brought three days of electronic music to the historic estate. Its international line-up included Timmy Trumpet, Dimitri Vegas, Oliver Heldens, Blasterjaxx, Morten, Sub Zero Project and Trym.“Moorea Festival is still relatively young, but it is growing rapidly and steadily establishing itself as a must-attend event, both for industry professionals and the wider public,” says Ory.
GLP fixtures – a perfect match for festivals
MID’s involvement combined support for the developing festival with the opportunity to present GLP lighting systems in a working production environment. Lighting designers, service providers, clients and organisers were able to assess the fixtures during live performances rather than under controlled showroom conditions.
“We deliberately selected these products to give the professionals attending the festival a representative view of the current GLP range,” Ory explains. “A real-world demonstration is always more convincing than any showroom presentation.”
Particularly adverse weather placed additional demands on the outdoor production. The realised Stage B rig therefore focused on three robust, IP-rated GLP fixtures, which Esparraga used to create a dynamic visual environment tailored to the needs of different artists and performances.
JDC2 IP Hybrid Strobes Combine Brightness, Pixels and Video
The eight JDC2 IP and ten JDC Burst 1 formed the major effects layer on Stage B. Both fixtures are weather-proof hybrid strobe moving lights with tilt and intense brightness, that combine powerful white strobe output with large colour-mixing led surfaces, but offer different creative toolsets.
The GLP JDC Burst 1 pairs a twelve-segment white beam-strobe-line with two RGBW plates containing 1,200 RGBW pixels, controllable in up to 48 segments . Its 185-degree motorised tilt adds movement to the strobe, wash and pixel effects, while the sealed IP65 housing protects the fixture against rain, dust, pyrotechnic residue and confetti.
The GLP JDC2 IP comes with an IP65 housing and 180° tilt, and combines a 84-LED beam-strobe-line, divided into twelve individually controllable segments, with 1.728 RGBW-LEDs spread across two large LED plates, each controllable as 12 or 24 segments. But that’s just one of the JDC2’s three philosophies: Its integrated DigiFX engine provides a big range of built-in digital effects, that can be easily generated and manipulated directly from the lighting console –either on single fixtures or configured as a combined canvas of JDC2. As third product capability, two Gigabit etherCON ports allow the JDC2 IP to receive up to four external NDI streams and display video content directly across its LED surfaces.
Together, the two hybrid-strobe systems gave Esparraga and the visiting LDs a broad visual vocabulary for the changing programme on Stage B, ranging from intense washes to graphic pixel content and intense white-light accents.
One MAD MAXX Extends the Design Beyond the Stage
A single GLP MAD MAXX LED Sky Beam provided the large-scale aerial component of the design. Its broad beam remained visible beyond the immediate performance area and connected the stage with the wider festival site.
GLP’s MAD MAXX is an LED-based FatBeam fixture designed for large-scale stage and sky effects. Its fully illuminated aperture produces a parallel beam measuring approximately 750 millimetres in diameter, while 19 individually controllable LED sources enable segment, multibeam and pattern effects. The IP66-rated construction is designed for use in demanding outdoor environments – delivering night-cutting beams visible from kilometers away as well as a big surface for daylight looks.
The combination of substantial beam diameter and high luminous intensity allowed one fixture to make a strong visual mark in the open-air setting of the Festival.
Momentum Towards the Main Stage
For MID, Moore Festival also offered a possibility to get in touch with lighting designers, technical providers and decision-makers attending or working on the event. According to Ory, the response has already led the organisers to consider a greater GLP presence at future editions, particularly on the main stage.
“What impressed me most was the interest in our products and the quality of the conversations with the professionals at the festival,” he concludes. “Our presence at the festival strengthened GLP’s visibility in the French market and demonstrated the power, versatility and quality of the fixtures.
