| Hello Visitor, We wouldn’t be GLP if we celebrated ten years of GLP UK quietly. So this year’s PLASA in London is the perfect occasion to mark a decade of GLP UK, alongside exciting new products and hands-on JDC2 IP training sessions. Over in the US, meanwhile, the green lab coats have already been out: GLP LICHT! LAB went deep into JDC2, GDTF, iQ.Mesh and more. Elsewhere in this issue, we welcome Greg Westwood back to GLP UK, join Wu-Tang Clan on their final European tour, and see how Nexus fixtures and 3D printing came together to create bespoke branding for the University of Kentucky’s CATSPY Awards.

GLP UK celebrates 10 years at PLASA 2026 | | | Ten years of GLP UK: reason enough to make PLASA 2026 a bit more of a celebration. From 6–8 September, you’ll find the team on stand E5, right at the entrance to the hall – with new products, anniversary spirit and, of course, what GLP UK still cheerfully claims is the best coffee in the hall. Another focus will be the substantial software update for the JDC2 IP. In several 30-minute training sessions on all three show days, René Geissel will demonstrate the new possibilities offered by DigiFX, Canvas, NDI integration and more. Each session is limited to six participants and must be booked in advance. | | | |
| | Greg Westwood returns to GLP UK | | | Greg Westwood was one of GLP UK’s original team members and played a key role in building the technical foundations of the UK operation. He now returns in the newly created role of Relationship Manager, focusing on strengthening customer relationships across the North of England. Combining technical expertise, market knowledge and close ties with rental companies, production businesses and venues, he will help further expand GLP’s presence in the region. | | | |
| | GLP joins Wu-Tang Clan on their “Final Chamber European Tour” | | | Wu-Tang Clan are one of the most influential acts in hip-hop history. For the “Final Chamber European Tour”, announced as their final European run, lighting designer Ben Walton worked under the creative direction of Jen Bui to create a visual language of Shaolin aesthetics, bold geometry and explosive energy. A total of 79 GLP JDC Burst 1 fixtures delivered sheer punch and precise accents, while 36 impression X5 Bar 1000 units extended the temple-like stage architecture with sharp lines of light. | | | |
| | GLP Nexus brings bespoke branding to the CATSPY Awards | | | For the University of Kentucky’s CATSPY Awards, Rob Moyer of All On Productions created a broadcast-ready awards show design using 72 Nexus Uplights and 60 Nexus Squares. The wireless, battery-powered fixtures became part of the scenic design itself: the Nexus Uplights were combined with custom 3D-printed columns featuring University of Kentucky branding, while the Nexus Squares were built into a bespoke staircase at the front of the stage. The result was striking imagery for camera and highly individual branding – without additional rigging or visible cabling. | | | |
| | GLP LICHT! LAB brings hands-on training to four US cities | | | GLP USA has taken LICHT! LAB to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, New York and Nashville for a series of intensive two-day, hands-on training events for lighting professionals. The programme covered the GLP product portfolio, GDTF workflows, iQ.Mesh and iQ.Control, alongside a deep dive into the JDC2 IP with DigiFX, Canvas, video inputs and FVP. Guest presentations from Tiffany Keys, Rob Koenig and Jeff Croiter rounded out the sessions – green lab coats included. GLP LICHT! LAB will also be coming to Europe soon. Brad Schiller, Head of Lighting Technology Engagement, on JDC2 firmware 2.0: “The new JDC2 version 2.0 firmware is totally amazing! It has taken a great fixture and made it much more valuable as a creative tool, while also providing easier access to programming routines. The JDC2 is more than a large strobe, it is also a stunning digital light unlike anything else I have ever used. The endless looks that are possible on the units blow me away every time I use the fixture.” |
