‍GLP News - July 2026

Hello Visitor,

This month’s newsletter spans quite a range: from a stadium rig featuring more than 700 fixtures and hushed jazz performances beneath a low ceiling to a rock show that filled London’s KOKO without any LED video. We join Bad Bunny and Russell Dickerson on their current tours, visit Tigercub’s biggest headline show to date and stop by the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, where the versatility of the X5 Series comes into its own whenever the technology needs to remain discreetly in the background.

LD Giovanni Pinna also takes us behind the scenes of Vasco Rossi’s stadium tour in the latest Lighting Legends video – and we welcome StageKraft as GLP’s new distributor for Australia.

Enjoy the read – and the view behind the scenes!

‍          A Note from our Product Management

“I’m excited to share one of the biggest updates we've released for the GLP JDC2 this year. Firmware 2.0 is much more than a software update—it's a significant step forward in how you can create, program, and interact with the JDC2 as a true Digital Light. We've refined the DigiFX workflow, introduced our new canvas-based positioning system, added new creative possibilities, and made programming faster and more intuitive throughout.

In our latest video, I'll personally guide you through the new features and share how they can help you unlock even more creative potential in your next production. Whether you're already using the JDC2 or are curious about what makes it unique, I hope you'll take a few minutes to watch the video. I think you'll discover just how much Firmware 2.0 has to offer.”

GLP JDC2 IP and MAD MAXX define the lighting design for Bad Bunny’s stadium tour

Bad Bunny is one of the most influential and successful pop stars of his generation. In 2026, Debí Tirar Más Fotos became the first Spanish-language album to win the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. For the artist’s international stadium tour, lighting designer Marcus Jessup created a design that balances monumental scale with precise musical storytelling.

A total of 136 JDC2 IP fixtures delivered rhythmic accents, graphic animations and layered colours, while 14 MAD MAXX produced the show’s most spectacular images with vast columns of light and exceptional reach.

GLP JDC1 delivers visual punch for Russell Dickerson’s “RussellMania Tour 2026”

Multi-Platinum country star Russell Dickerson is taking his live production to a new level with the “RussellMania Tour 2026”. For the headline tour through arenas, major festivals and outdoor venues across the USA and Canada, Nick Chang of Prismic Productions created a flexible lighting design centred around 108 GLP JDC1 fixtures.

The hybrid strobes combine powerful strobe and wash effects with pixel-mapped animation, giving the show visual impact, rhythmic precision and a cohesive look – even in broad daylight.

GLP X5 series lights the new stage at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club

Since 1959, Ronnie Scott’s has ranked among the world’s most important jazz clubs, hosting artists from Miles Davis to Amy Winehouse. The newly redesigned „Upstairs at Ronnie’s“ venue now features a lighting system based on GLP’s X5 series that is as versatile as it is discreet.

Eight impression X5 Compact, six X5 Atom and six X5 Dot Wash fixtures deliver precise colours, natural skin tones and a wide range of looks for a programme spanning intimate solo performances and high-energy funk and soul shows. Specially adapted fan systems ensure that the fixtures remain virtually inaudible, even during the quietest moments.

GLP TWYN ties together the lighting design for Vasco Rossi’s 2026 stadium tour

With more than 35 million records sold, Vasco Rossi is one of Italy’s most successful live artists and has been filling the country’s largest stadiums for decades. For his 2026 tour, lighting designer Giovanni Pinna created a monumental rig comprising more than 700 fixtures, including over 300 GLP products. Forty TWYN units brought the looks of 100 JDC Burst 1 fixtures and 40 Creos together as one cohesive system, while 136 impression X5 IP Maxx extended the visual impact right into the stands.

In the latest Lighting Legends video, Giovanni Pinna takes us behind the scenes of Italy’s largest touring production of the year. He talks about how he became a lighting designer, how the role has evolved over the course of his career, and the creative process behind the current Vasco Rossi show. He also explains why he combined TWYN, CREOS and JDC Burst 1 on a major tour for the first time, and why the X5 IP Maxx has become his go-to washlight for stadium-scale productions.

GLP JDC Burst 1 fixtures define Tigercub’s biggest show to date at London’s KOKO

For their biggest headline show to date, Tigercub took over London’s historic KOKO with a lighting design created entirely without LED video. Lighting designer John Rogers built the entire visual concept around 26 GLP JDC Burst 1 fixtures, translating the aesthetic of the album Nets to Catch the Wind into a striking interplay of bold shadows, saturated colour and hard-hitting effects. Combining strobe power, RGBW surfaces and motorised tilt, the fixtures handled backlight, keylight and eye-candy duties alike – filling the historic venue with a design that was as focused as it was impactful.
